The first round had few unexpected surprises as the teams with power took on their foes with ease. The matches that included teams further in the rankings were a bit of a slug in particular in the Mavericks and Jazz combination, which played seven full games with no participation from NBA 2K23's cover player Luka Doncic in games one and two.

The biggest surprise may be the seventh seed Brooklyn Nets defeating the second-seed Boston Celtics in six games which is largely due to the fact that the Celtics are on a 2-0 roll in the opening round. The one prediction that is most likely to be fulfilled is the Philadelphia Sixers, who beat the Toronto Raptors Buy 2K MT, as the game is currently 3-0 Philadelphia's favour.
